Day 1: Welcome to Uganda – The Pearl of Africa!
You are most welcome to the Pearl! A representative from your hotel will pick you up from Entebbe airport. If you arrive early at the airport, you may have a chance to engage in some OPTIONAL activities on your own budget, such as: visiting the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) or the botanical gardens. Given no extra activities, the journey from the Airport to your hotel (Viavia Entebbe) takes only 15 minutes. No meals included.
Day 2: Trip To Queen Elizabeth National Park
In the morning today, after having an inclusive breakfast, you can choose to chill at your hotel, Viavia Entebbe, or visit a tea plantation just nearby and learn how high quality Ugandan tea is harvested. Alternatively, you can go for a crater lake hike. All these are optional activities and are therefore at you will incur your own costs.
You will then embark on your long-awaited 8-hour journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park! This is Uganda’s second largest National Park, after Murchison Falls National Park. Queen Elizabeth NP is situated just below the prolific Rwenzori Mountain range, which is very close to Lakes George and Edward. This National Park is home to a wide range of African wildlife including: lions, hippos, water bucks, Uganda kobs, Gazelles and Warthogs etc.
You will spend today’s night at a cozy accommodation, The Bush Lodge, with amazing views over the Kazinga Channel. You will be up for some lazing camping in the evening! You will have the opportunity to upgrade your accommodation to a self-contained banda, overlooking the flourishing Kamera River, with a shower and terrace. Breakfast is Included.
Day 3: Boat Safari & Game drive at Queen Elizabeth NP
Your first game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park happens today, so you must wake up very early! Be on the lookout for lions at the entrace and inside the park. You will have first-hand sight of big herds of with elephants and pods of hippos, or even a leopard just chilling in the sunshine.
Later on, in the afternoon, you will go for an exciting boat safari on the famous Kazinga Channel. This may surely be the highlight of your African safari in Uganda. You will see unimaginably large numbers of hippos and other wildlife that come to the lakeside to drink water or to simply take a shower. Expect to see some crocodiles, bathing elephants, buffaloes and many vibrant bird species. The Kazinga Channel joing Lakes Albert and George.
You will also spend the night today at The Bush Lodge. Breakfast Included.
Hot Air Balloon Safari (Optional) – $380 P/P
This is your chance to explore Queen Elizabeth National Park from the skies! Indeed, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience with exceptional aerial views of the serene African beauty of Uganda, herds of elephants and buffaloes and great photo opportunities! This all happens in the morning so you will view the sun rise over Queen Elizabeth National Park. After your balloon safari experience, you will be served a a sweet glass of juice to celebrate true African sweetness. Your flight lasts about 1 hour.
Lion Tracking (Optional) – $85 P/P
This optional activity gives you over 95% chance to see the lions and also allows you to proactively track the lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park using locator devices. Limited entry available. You will learn how to make habituation calls, monitor behavior, surroundings and the weather, and also contribute the knowledge gained to a research aimed at increasing scientific understanding of wildlife. Day 4: Trip To Bwindi / Lake Mutanda
You’ve seen the best? Better is around the corner! On this 4th day of your African safari in Uganda, you will take on a 7-hour journey to the south-western part of Uganda, close to the borders with Congo and Rwanda. You will witness the great countryside around Lake Mutanda and a place so beautiful that it was nicknamed: The Switzerland of Africa! You will see prolific bamboo forests and breathtaking Virunga Mountain views.
Today, you will spend the night at Lake Mutanda Resort, located between Kisoro town, Mgahinga and Bwindi National Parks on a cape in Lake Mutanda. This Resort has great accommodation in wooden cabins with undisturbed verandas and inside bathrooms. Breakfast Included.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
The day you waited for is… today! You will meet the gentle mountain gorillas of Bwindi Forest today. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is the only forest in Africa (and Uganda!) that is gifted with both mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, and 5 other primate species, 113 mammal species, 200 butterfly species, and over 360 bird species. Unimaginable, right?!
Gorilla Trekking at Bwindi will take you about 2 to 7 hours as this depends on how fast the gorillas are located. You will all be allowed upto one hour “face-time” with the gorillas in the forest. Getting close to Uganda’s Gorillas in the Mist’ is a truly “spiritual” and rewarining experience, one that you will never forget.
Just like yesterday,you will spend the night in the calming atmosphere of Mutanda Lake Resort. Breakfast included.
Day 6: Heading Back to Entebbe
As soon as you finish your morning routine, your safari driver will drive you back to Entebbe Airport, taking about 10 hours. You will make an exciting stopover at the historical Uganda equator along Masaka road. The equator is an imaginary line, at 0 degrees latitude, that moves around the middle of planet Earth, halfway between the South and North Poles. Therefore, the Earth is widest at the equator. You will buy some souvenirs here and take some of your last photos in Uganda. Make sure your flight is booked for 10pm or later. Breakfast Included. Accomodation not included today.
